Since 1980, when the association was founded, and until today, more than 2,500 works have been donated to the museum by the SAMO. Thus from 1980 to 2016, 930 drawings, 225 art objects, 1235 photos and about 45 paintings have joined the museum’s collections.
Representing the artistic creation of the Western world from 1848 to 1914, they also reflect the museum’s multidisciplinary approach.
These works were either generously donated to the association by private individuals or companies, or acquired and financed with the association’s own funds, which in turn donated them to the public establishment of the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée de l’Orangerie. They now belong to the national collections.
We thank and pay warm tribute to our generous donors and contributors for this tremendous enrichment of the collections of the Musée d’Orsay and the Orangerie.
