◤ NEW ACQUISITION ◢
A new acquisition thanks to a donation from the Société des Amis des Musées d’Orsay et de l’Orangerie, this “Vase with two fishes” is the result of the fruitful collaboration between Christofle & Cie and the decorator Émile Reiber. Director of the manufactory’s confection workshops, the latter was inspired in 1874 by a Japanese bronze vase kept in the Cernuschi Museum – Museum of Asian Arts of the City of Paris. Adapted to contemporary taste, the vase is made more naturalistic thanks to its delicate polychromy, made of cloisonné enamel. Its remarkable composition makes it a timeless piece that still carries modernity today.
